Our New Social Work Intern
Hi! I’m Ali Holcomb, and I’ll be All Saints’ social work intern for the next year (through April). I’d like to share a few things about myself and explain my purpose at the church. I’m from Northwest Arkansas, and I’ve lived in Jackson for the last four years. I finished my bachelor’s degree in social work last May. Since I’ve been in Jackson, I’ve been a coordinator for J-Crib Urban Ministries, served with Room in the Inn, and worked as an advocate at WRAP (Wo/Men’s Resource & Rape Assistance Program). I spent the last summer in Louisville, Kentucky serving women who were working in the sex industry.
I’m currently working on my master’s of social work at Union University, and a part of that program includes a practicum that I’ll be splitting between Pathways and All Saints. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to be able to work on my degree in the context of a local church like All Saints. My overall goal is to help facilitate conversations about the ministry you all are already doing. I hope that my presence helps you discover a little more about your different passions and experiences. I also hope to encourage you in your ministry pursuits, and I would love to help some of you find new ways to connect your gifts to the ministries right here in Jackson. I can’t wait to meet everyone, and I’m very excited about the year to come. I think we will have a lot of fun!
