life of world pastorates

As the focus of our Lenten Pastorates (small groups) was “sharing in the life of God” through the spiritual disciplines, so the focus of our next semester of Pastorates this fall will be “for the life of the world.” Each Pastorate will be geared toward equipping each other to live for the life of the world as Jesus taught. We have five groups that will meet every other week for five meetings. Check them out!

Blessed Are the Peacemakers
Donald Jordan
Begins Wednesday, August 31
Hosts: Greg and Melinda Jordan
We live in a world bent on keeping the peace, avoiding confrontation, and being nice. But Jesus didn’t call us to these. He called us to be peacemakers. This will be a Pastorate dedicated to exploring the hard work of taking positive actions for peace and reconciliation in our community in contrast to the more passive approaches that are more often the norm for average Christians.

Inquirers Pastorate
Fr. Wes Gristy
Begins Wednesday, August 31
Hosts: Rusty and Charleyn Reviere
This Pastorate is an introduction to the Anglican Tradition designed to assist those who’d like to learn more about Anglican history, theology, and practice. For those who choose, the Pastorate prepares one for confirmation when our bishop comes to All Saints on Sunday, November 6. However, anyone desiring a refresher is welcome to attend as well.

Sustainable Service: Building Relationships that Last
Ali Knack
Begins Wednesday, September 7
Hosts: Waring and Dian Hazlehurst
This Pastorate will explore how to serve others in ways that can build two-way relationships of healing and interdependence. Service is relationships, and the best relationships are ones the last. But relationships can also be complicated, so each week we will discuss different insights from Scripture and the field of social work to help us navigate some of the challenges we face when loving others.

The Celtic Way of Evangelism
Deacon Ross Guthrie Begins
Sunday, September 11
Hosts: Billy and Sally Slack
The Celtic Church and the Anglican Communion have a shared history. From AD 500—1000, the Celts evangelized their neighbors in Ireland and Scotland and then much of Europe, but they did so in a way that has fallen out of practice in today’s world. This Pastorate will seek to rediscover how we might do evangelism today in the Celtic Way.

Forgiveness: A Healing Miracle
Gary Osborne
Begins Sunday, September 11
Hosts: Jim and Halina Warmbrod
In this Pastorate we will explore the biblical perspectives regarding forgiveness. Some sample questions we will address are as follows: On what basis do you ask forgiveness? Do you forgive others as fully as God forgives you? Will your forgiveness of others bring reconciliation with them? Is repentance a prerequisite for forgiveness? Enhance your personal relationship with God and others through the healing miracle of forgiveness!
